China » Student Comments

"I believe that studying at C.U.N. was an excellent experience, because of the ability I had to meet, ‘play’, and study with all the nationalities of China. Would not trade it for the world."

"I didn’t really realize the extent of my progress until I started speaking with my Chinese friends back home. They were amazed at my ability to understand and speak."

"I found the instruction was overall very good; the teachers were motivated and friendly, always encouraging conversation and discussion in class and often inviting the students to their house for dinner. My class was very small with only four students."

"Beijing is huge, both in scale (taxi, bus or bike all take about one hour from one side of the city to another) and population. There are people everywhere and every place is crowded but you get used to it. The air is as polluted as Los Angeles, and there is a lot of trash lying around (what really big city doesn’t have these problems). But it is also full of little parks, temples and other havens from the bustle of city life which gives you a chance to see Chinese relaxing and to meet people outside of school."

"Pat Lucas did an absolutely outstanding job, especially for our study tour. He went beyond my expectations and gave me a learning experience that I will never forget. We got to be with the people, live and eat with them, do chores and other things. I had the ability to learn first hand the culture that I fell in love with and practice a language that I had been studying."

"Pat Lucas was more approachable and helpful. He cared a lot about me."
