Program Cost

The OUS seeks to make its exchange programs affordable and accessible. For detailed information regarding the program budget (both the program fee and an estimate of personal expenses), please click on the following:

The Deakin University program is a reciprocal exchange program with students from Deakin University and the OUS exchanging places. There are typically more OUS students studying in Australia than students from Deakin coming to Oregon. Therefore, there are a limited number of exchange spots each semester. Other qualified Oregon students will be able to go to Deakin as non-exchange students.

The program fee includes academic and administrative fees, orientation expenses, and health and accident insurance. Non-exchange students pay a higher program fee than exchange students because Deakin University tuition is included. The program fee does not include airfare, room and board, visa fees, campus-based fees* and personal expenses such as local transportation, textbooks, laundry, recreation (including travel), personal supplies and incidental expenses.

*Note: students will be charged a Study Abroad Fee by their home OUS institution. This fee varies by institution though is generally about $300 per term and will be billed to students by their home university. Students should also determine with their home university whether resource fees for their major will be charged during their time abroad.

Program costs for the July 2008 semester of the 2008-09 academic year will be set in May 2008. The February 2009 semester program costs are set in November 2008. The program fee for non-resident and graduate students is higher than that for resident undergraduates.

Funding

You can finance your exchange in Australia in many ways. Most forms of financial aid, such as grants or loans for which you are eligible at your home campus, may be applied to the program.* Veterans’ benefits may also be applied. Although most forms of financial aid may be applied to program costs, students should be aware that they may need to supplement their standard financial aid package.
